Jimmy Anderson and Father Time

james anderson

So, Jimmy’s Test Career has come to an end. What a career and may never again be replicated or beaten!

Jimmy’s farewell at Lord’ was emotional and fitting, many tributes were made and his bowling career celebrated.

Lancashire supporters had the pleasure of watching him at Southport take seven wickets in the Notts first innings, the first six wickets before lunch and you have to go back to the time of little Johnny Briggs to see similar feats.

Jimmy is a phenomenon and at 41 looks as fit as ever. He looks as if he can continue bowling for a few more seasons and Lancashire supporters will be hoping to see him running in on his smooth run-up again.

In the U.S.A. everyone is looking at a President who many are saying is too old to run again for the office. Joe Biden thinks differently and wants to cling on to the office.

When is right to retire? One of the most difficult decisions to make and usually it is others who make the decision for you.

Perhaps Jimmy will look at the record of Cyril Washbrook who at the age of 48 and five years after his last appearance for England and now a Test selector was recalled to the England team. He scored 98 but perhaps it is more difficult for a bowler but you can still dream!!!!!!
